All tyres at some point will require replacing. The amount of tyre tread you have left affects the ability of your vehicle to brake and corner.
Are your tyres legal?
The recommendation is that tyres need replacing when they are down to 3mm of useable tread. The legal limit is 1.6mm but below 3mm it takes longer for your vehicle to stop, with 3mm of tread left your braking is about 20-25% less efficient and running them down to 2mm can lead to as much as 40-45% less efficiency – add that to worn brakes and we have a problem!
